Insurance writer and editor. Licensed insurance agent. Often found running, crocheting, or identifying birds with questionable confidence.
Insurance is a strange thing to geek out about, but here we are.
Right after graduating college with a theatre degree, I started working in an insurance agency (exactly where you expect an actress to end up, right?). I spent nearly a decade helping people navigate coverage decisions, billing issues, claims questions, and the general confusion and frustration that comes with insurance. I never expected to find a passion, but I did. I realized I genuinely loved helping people understand and take charge of their insurance.
Then the pandemic happened.
Like so many, I started to question my trajectory and what I really wanted out of life. I decided to swing big and go after the dream I’d had since I was a little girl: writing. I went back to school, got a degree in English with a focus in technical and professional writing, and changed my life.
Since 2021, I’ve written about insurance, first on Bankrate and now on ValuePenguin. I aim to make insurance feel less stressful and more manageable. I started from square one and learned all this stuff. You can too.
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time running, crocheting, reading, learning guitar and piano, and watching for new plants in my wooded backyard. Recently, I’ve also gotten very into birding, which is either charming or concerning depending on who you ask. But I mean… have you seen an indigo bunting? Gorgeous.
